I recently finished the website for Borodash – a non-profit race in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It raises money for my friend and his work with Neema House in Tanzania and also the awesome folks at Greenhouse Ministries.

I had a good conversation with a friend last night. We were discussing frustrations with ourselves and others over our commitment to Christ. Not as if we’re denying Christ outright, but how people tend to think they have it all figured out and let pride stop them from total surrender. Now there are times when I am in church or elsewhere and I just don’t connect with the words being spoken. But if the truth is being spoken and I’m not connecting with it, that’s my problem, not the truth’s.
If, at any point, I am not moved by the truth, am not heartbroken by the sight of an orphan, am not filled with fire at the thought a lost sheep returning home, then my pride truly has hold of me. God said we’d find him when we seek him with all our heart. With everything we’ve got. It’s not about striving. It’s about and interesting concoction of desire, surrender and mystery. Don’t seek to understand it all. Just seek God.
There’s a great song by Switchfoot that fits this. At least I think so.
If you’re inspired (I love this story) I highly recommend reading Henri Nouwen’s The Return of the Prodigal Son which is about his story of interaction with this parable and the Rembrandt painting of the same name, and more importantly of his homecoming.
So I got to do one of my favorite things this evening on the way home from church: ride with the windows down while the radio blasts. In February.
Here’s a sampling of my playlist for the ride. Lord, thank you for good weather and good music. Not that I hate the winter, but I’m loving this break to crank the windows down and the radio up. I honestly consider it a blessing. It refreshes my spirit.
