I recently finished the website for Borodash – a non-profit race in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It raises money for my friend and his work with Neema House in Tanzania and also the awesome folks at Greenhouse Ministries.

[mis]fortune Update

Nov 21 2009 Published by under Blog,Punctum Media

The production of our short film [mis]fortune is going quite well. Aaron and I met all day Tuesday. The story is nearly complete. We have more to work on but we are ready to resume filming this Sunday afternoon.

Just to update you further, we’re hoping to release a trailer in late December or early January. We plan to release the film in February or March. You should know the exact release date by the time the trailer is released. We’re also planning a premier. I’ll post details when they’re available.

Further filming will be December 5 and 12, tentatively. Please, if possible, be in prayer for us over the next month or so. It’s no easy task writing a story, and it is equally as difficult when making it into a film. Add to the mix that we’re tackling one of the toughest questions out there – the questions of pain and bad things happening to good people. Our thoughts on the topic come through a middle-aged man and his journey of faith through struggle.

Already we have 2-3 minutes of finished footage that will be released soon. It will be released as a separate film, more of a video illustration form, and covers the events of Job 1-2. Brad Russell, Gerald Lester, Rob Touchstone, Brad Mehaffey and Kyle Watson appear in this segment. We’re really proud of it and think the rest will be awesome, as well.

Updates

Jul 29 2009 Published by under Blog,Punctum Media

- Writing business proposal on an idea I’m pursuing. Lots of work. I knew it would be but it’s hard to comprehend until you get into it.

- Kristi rearranged two rooms to create a writing/office area for me. It was a pleasant surprise to say the least. Working from home, although likely temporary, has had it’s adjustments. But it’s been great.

- Mark Batterson and the National Community Church (which we visited recently) included in a recent PBS report on Twitter. He’s at about 4:30.

- I finished a book last week by the creek in the mountains. To Be Told by Dan Allendar should be on your list of books that you must read soon. I picked up Thomas Cahill’s How the Irish Saved Civilization to read next. I had been looking for it for a while (I generally refuse to buy new and get books from used bookstores). Found it at a little used bookstore in the mountains for $6. Nice. Come to find out it’s one of seven in a series on the Hinges of History. I’m really looking forward to the next two – The Gifts of the Jews and Desire of the Everlasting Hills (The World Before and After Jesus).

- So Alberto Contador wins the Tour de France and decides to be a jerk. It could have been such a good ending to a good race. Thank you for taking the high road, Lance. Donald Miller has a great article on this feud and the fallout.

- We spent a week in the mountains last week. We sat by a creek with no phone or internet service for 4 days. We played, read books, wrote stuff, and played the Wii that Ricky let us borrow (Mario Party 8 rocks, by the way). It was a good amount of rest in a beautiful area with a wonderful family. On the way home we were fortunate (?) enough to see a bear on a bicycle. Weird, I know, and partly and inside joke. But we couldn’t resist getting a picture. Here’s the bear. Me and Noah with the bear is on our Flickr – email if you want an invite to see it since it’s private.

- I continue to send out weekly emails to a small group of friends who I trust will pray for us. We’re undertaking quite a bit in some of my ventures/ideas. If you’re confident of your ability to pray and pray well, battling for us weekly, let me know. I’ll add you to the list. It’s a pretty simple and quick weekly email of updates. That’s about it.

- Innate Productions will be renamed soon. There’s another company out there that does some of what we do and they have the same name. Plus we knew that name was kind of temporary. So we landed on another name. We’re finalizing a logo and will announce the change over soon. You will hear the name, think we are weird, then realize how cool the name is, then still think we are weird.

Pringles On Your Face

Jun 08 2009 Published by under Blog,E-bonics,Punctum Media

Various updates and enjoyable things.

—–

I put Elijah to bed tonight and was beside him after we read our book. He put his hands on my face and said, “You have pringles on your face. You need to shave.”

—–

We bought some shelves off of Craigslist a couple of weeks ago. We ended up talking God and church with Darren for about 40 minutes before HE loaded up the shelves into his own truck and drove them back to our house for us. He also invited us back to a birthday party for his five-year-old son that afternoon. So, we showed up again later to a party with a bunch of people we had never met for a kid who didn’t seem to mind strangers at his party. We stayed for two or three hours.

I met the sister of the guy who started Watermelon Ministries. Awesome.

——

We sold something on Craigslist the other day. They (the dad and three sons…there were three girls at home, as well) came and we talked for a little while, as well. Good family, and Noah and Elijah played with the three boys as if they had known them forever. Our kids are good at that. I have no idea where they got it.

He (Steve) told me about a friend of his who started Both Hands Foundation. Awesome, as well.

——

We have been cleaning out our house. And instead of having a yard sale, we’re just putting up signs this Saturday to give everything away. It’s all free (and there is a lot).

Several people have said that it’s a great idea because it saves time and energy pricing things. True. Very true. But, we just really want to give away this stuff. God has been more than good to us. It’s time to start returning the favor. We’re going to try to out-give God in our lives and see what happens.

Kristi has been reading a book about servant evangelism. This and a few other things led us to where we are now spiritually and mentally regarding life, love and Jesus. And in regards to this I probably owe a lot of you a detailed explanation of why I left North Boulevard and why we’re doing what we are doing now. I will start working on it, I promise.

——

We’re headed to Chattanooga this week. Some cool folks at North Boulevard got us a going away present. So the four of us will spend a few days away. We’re really looking forward to it. We could really use a minor break like this, especially considering that things haven’t really slowed down since I left my job. Speaking of leaving my job…

——

In case you were wondering, I have been working on some things. No, none of them pay. But honestly, I’m not at all worried about that. God has always taken care of us and there’s no reason to think he won’t now, especially since he has led us to this point to begin with.

I worked on some artwork for Impact with David Skidmore before I left; I worked on more artwork and video for an Impact session being led by the ladies at Real Girls, a teen girls outreach (I’ll post the videos when I have them); Investigating the start-up of a non-profit organization; Will travel to D.C. at the end of the month to do some…research, lets say, for another possible non-profit. I’ll fill you in more later.

If it works out it will be the coolest thing ever.

——

Further updates…

We sold a bunk bed to a lady across town. She’s a single mom and quite possibly the most Southern person I’ve met in a while. On the way out – no joke – she asked if we watch “‘rastlin’”.
